Abstract

This research was carried out based on the problems that occurred in grade 5 Madrasah, namely low understanding of students' scientific literacy, lack of students' scientific attitude, and lack of students' critical thinking abilities. So this research aims to determine the increase in scientific literacy through the application of Augmented Reality in class 5 of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 1 Tembilahan Hulu. The type of research used is classroom action research with classroom action research procedures carried out including 4 stages, namely, Planning, Action, Observation and Reflection. In this research, the results obtained at the pre-cycle stage were that students' scientific literacy only reached 30.5% with less effective conventional learning media. After implementing Augmented Reality, there was an increase in cycle 1 of 29.8%, reaching 60.3%, and a more significant increase in cycle 2 of 25.2%, reaching 85.5%. Augmented Reality media) is able to present learning material in an interesting and interactive manner, which not only increases students' motivation but also helps them understand complex scientific concepts, so it can be concluded that the application of augmented reality shows that the use of Augmented Reality media significantly increases scientific literacy student
